Lady Fiona Turnbridge is a fair,
green-eyed beauty with a soft spot for injured animals
which is how she arrived on the doorstep of
the tall, dark, and handsome Lord Ian Cabott, Duke
of Dunsford, at midnight with an injured cat in one
hand... and a pistol in her other.
Ian, a former military surgeon with
a cool demeanor yet uncommon good sense, is willing
to help a damsel in distress no matter how
unladylike her behavior. Still, he has needs, too...
and, in exchange for his efforts, he could use Fiona's
assistance with the young ward in his care. Ever since
the sickly Charlotte moved into his home, Ian's efforts
to rehabilitate her have been met with sinister curiosity
among his peers. But if Fiona were to move into the
Dunsford estate, surely scandal could be averted.
Now all he has to do is convince both women that his
humanitarian heart is true and perhaps find
love along the way... |

Stacy Kavanaugh's life has been the
pits lately. Six months agookay, six months,
one week and two days, but who's counting?her
husband left her for an exotic dancer. The property
settlement negotiations have been downright ugly.
And exhausting. Stacy has had enough. She's spent
the weekend packing up all the small appliances Daniel
has been demanding. The first item on her To Do List
for Monday morning is to instruct her attorney to
throw in the towel. And the pasta machine, too.
But you know what they say about
the best laid plans. Her attorney calls to tell her
that Daniel is now threatening to ask for half of
her business in the property settlement. Stacy figures
things have hit rock bottom. How could they get any
worse?
Well.... the Sheriff's deputy could
walk in the door five minutes later to tell her that
Daniel has crashed his single engine plane into the
mountains of Montana's Bitterroot National Forest.
He's presumed dead, but there's no body. They think
a bear dragged it away. It's snowing and it'll be
Spring before they can do another search for Daniel's
remains. Yeah, that would definitely qualify as worse.
It's probably a good thing that Stacy
has no idea how bad things are really going to get.

Catherine, forty-two, has finally
gotten a handle on being unexpectedly divorced, when
she inherits the Wichita Warriors, her brother's minor
league hockey franchise, and the term 'nut cup' takes
on a whole new meaning. But Catherine isn't about
to let a steep learning curve hold her back. Or the
fact that the Warriors are teetering on the edge of
bankruptcy.
While she knows that a good cry really
does help, she firmly believes that two tissues is
the limit for any pity party. After that, it's buck
it up and get on with what has to be done. And what
has to be done to make the Warriors a winningand
profitableteam is obvious; she has to hire a
decent coach. To her thinking, dangerously handsome
Logan Dupree is the perfect man for the job.
Logan doesn't exactly disagree with
her on that point. But salvaging the Warriors isn't
something he really wants to do. He understands the
dreams that motivate minor league hockey players;
he was once one of them. He beat the odds and made
it to the pros. Then a stick accidentally came up
and the bottom fell out of his world.
Now blind in one eye, his playing
days are in the past. And he's not over the disappointment,
the sense of having failed. Encouraging younger men
to reach for the stars seems not only pointless to
him, but cruel. But not quite as cruel, though, as
letting the perky and petite Catherine Talbottaka
Shirley Templestep behind the bench and coach
them herself.
And so begins a partnership of two
strangers who share a common goal: to make the Warriors
a winning team. With humor and acceptance and sometimes
just plain ol' resignation, Cat and Logan survive
the disasters and get past the missteps to discover,
in the end, that the victories are all the sweeter,
all the more fulfilling, for having squarely faced
the demands of life and made the journey. Together.

Her life depended on his name. His
heart depended on her love.
It was a most humiliating situation.
Mistress Claire Curran of London arrived at the Virginia
office of her uncle's solicitor knowing nothing of
the private correspondence she bore. With a simple
break of the seal, she was hopelessly trapped in a
shameless bargain: her hand given in marriage to a
stranger to clear an unpaid debt. Alone and penniless,
at first she has no means of escaping her lowly fate.
But she pledges to be no man's pawn in such a dishonorable
game and certainly no man's wife. With a sharp
mind and an unbreakable spirit, Claire devises to
play the part of Rosewind's mistress... but only until
she can find a way out.
Devon Rivard finds himself in a maddening
dilemma: he can either sell his ancestral home to
pay his brother's gambling debts, or marry one Claire
Curran, the fiery-tempered messenger who has so innocently
tossed the black-hearted ultimatum into his lap. Resigned
yet furious, he vows to annul the marriage once the
debt is cleared. But as he comes to know the independent
yet vulnerable and undeniably lovely Claire, an even
more difficult dilemma arises. She wins his heart,
a prize he thought forever safely walled away. He
knows he can't make her love him, but he can't bear
to lose her. Can he convince her to stay by his side
as the clouds of war gather, or will circumstances
beyond his control take her away from him forever?
